Who knew?

Maryland is about to become the first state to enforce a ban on a type of footgear the organism uses to hitchhike from stream to stream: felt-soled fishing boots.

I think it is a good idea. Already got rid of my felt boots and got new rubber sole with spikes. They dont work as good but if thats what it takes to keep the insects alive to keep the trout then thats what you got to do. If there is no trout there will be no reason to wade in the water. I also invested in a wading staff to assist in keeping my balance on slippery rocks and it really helps. I think all states should put this ban in effect.

They have been doing this in many European rivers for years. Seems the US is finally catching up.

.
... Accidentally bought felt boots +25 years ago instead of cleats and I couldn't understand what the warning labels were about transferring organisms in the felt bottoms...

... Now I do, but is the ban really that effective or is it something else... C22...
