I fish mostly the jones, tobay and occasionally robert moses area and the fall run is just non-existant right now. Is it late or is it like this every year and is it only a matter of time until it just opens up. Also, generally speaking, how late into the season can you still catch bass from the jones area.

Moses seems to be the last place to light up however you'll catch fish into Decemnber there most years.. Jones beach seems to do better earlier which I could never figure out.. No the fall run if anything is early with the cold water being pushed in with all this east wind day after day. Much better than last year.

Never had much success at Moses in September, notoriously slow for me however some may disagree I'm just going with what I've seen from fishing the area over the years.

Thanks, I just thought that there had been a good run of fish already in the jones, tobay, rm area last year. I guess I got to stick it out a little longer. Any other opinions will still be appreciated.

Agreed!

I mostly fish FI inlet and I don't consider the fall run on until oct. I'm thinking these early fish are good signs, not to mention all the summer fish people have been catching. I don't remember it being that good in the summer. but maybe thats because the season used to be closed I don't know!

I'm not saying you can't catch any bass now. Of course you can & they've been around all summer, but the fall run with acres of bass on top usually doesn't start in these parts until the beginning of November. I'll be there.
