I last fished in Aruba in Jan. 2008. All we did was fish offshore and caught small tuna, a couple of mahi but some very large wahoo. I'd suggest that you check the marina in town and talk to the captains about bottom fishing. It's a very windy island so staying inshore with a couple of novices is a good idea.

After what the Aruban govt did in the Natelie Holloway case I wouldn't spend a red cent in that country. I'd rather spend a weeks vacation fishing in a sewage treatment plant than give them a penny.

Lots of other great fishing destinations. Go spend your dollars there.

Scott
Most of the time I agree with you, but disagree with the absolutely horrible situation with Natalie Holloway. There have been so many incidents in our own country, especially NY where tourists have gotten murdered or robbed and maimed. This does not stop other tourists from coming. We have our own problems with the law as any other country has. The rich get away with things. I have been to Aruba many times, with never a problem. Again this in no way diminishes the Holloway situation. I remember a German couple being killed in Florida while driving and getting car jacked. Many Germans still visit. Just my thoughts

In the Halloway case the government conspired with the Judge father of the young man who was with her when it happened and confessed on hidden camera. The fact that something happened to her is not my beef (a tragedy, but not the reason for my outrage) but how their government handled it. Bad things can happen anywhere, it's how the police and governments that handle it that matter to me.

Listen, to each your their own. For me, where I spend my dollars has always been the easiest way for me to show my support or condemnation for something. There are merchants I will go out of my way to patronize because they do right by their customers, and then their are others I won't set foot in ever again because of how they treated their customers. That's all I'm doing in regards to Aruba.

How about we get this back on track. And keep it about the posters origonal question FISHING IN ARUBA. Not about how their government handles a particular situation

There was a murder case here in MA in the 1960s. Guy got drunk and drove his car off a bridge killing a young lady in the backseat. He swam off leaving her to drown.

We then elected him as a Senator for the next 40 years....
