I know my go-to, hands down bait shop for LIS is Sportsmans Den in Cos Cob, CT. A younger guy took the shop over in the last couple of years and it is stocked to the ceilings with all the latest gear. Probably due to the fact that he's as obsessed with fishing as we are!!!! But I do like to visit shops during the winter to help pass the time. So lets hear your suggestions.

Default Rockland sportsman's Show...

I think it's next weekend,...usually the 1st weekend in March @ Rockland Community College.

If you're up for taking a ride to Patchogue or Maybe it's Actually Oakdale??? L.I. there's J&H Tackle on Sunrise Hwy. Rt. 27 East service road. they buy & sell big bulk purchases on gear and have weekly sales on all kinds of stuff.Sometimes I've found a bunch of pretty nice deals there all in one shot. I enjoy visiting them.

Always good to check the websites and papers for tackle & sportsman's Shows. You never know where the next Tackle show will pop up in your area sometimes! I know there's several of them on Long Island every year mostly in the winter months too.

I always used to begin my off season by browsing at the Javits Center in Manhattan for the NYC BOAT SHOW in January. The show has gotten MUCH smaller in recent years but still fun.

Then again you can always take a ride to the Cabella's Store in CT. too! Also always a good trip usually with some deals to be found too!

Yo eAndersen the Flea Market your talking about is hosted by the Knights of Columbus and is right off of exit 3 of I-95 in the ferry parking lot. Definitely worth the trip. eAndersen you ever here from that guy Brad anymore? I heard he got obsessed with that movie Brokeback Mountain, bought a horse, and moved out west.
